The Offer Still Stands

The Vision Thing

I want to share an update on our visioning process. Over the past few weeks written surveys and oral interviews have been conducted with members of New Colony. I appreciate everyone who has participated in this important process. If you have not been able to participate in an oral interview to share what God is putting on your heart you have another opportunity. On Wednesday evening, March 28, you may meet with Sandy Coelho before prayer meeting at 6:00 P.M. or after prayer meeting at 7:30 P.M. Your input about what God is saying to you about New Colony is important as we go forward with the Lord in this visioning process.

The most important factor in this process will be our ongoing prayer for God’s leadership and direction in developing His vision for the church. I want to encourage you to take time each day to pray for God’s direction for us as a church as we seek to follow the Lord.

I received a newsletter from another church which had some interesting facts about how people use their time. Consider that a person spends on average:

1,555 hours per year watching television-4.26 hours per day
974 hours listening to the radio-2.7 hours a day
195 hours using the internet-1 hour per day
175 hours reading daily newspapers-1/2 hour per day
122 hours reading magazines-24 minutes per day
106 hours reading books-20 minutes per day
86 hours playing video games-15 minutes per day
36.5 hours brushing our teeth-6 minutes per day
On average, 8.2 hours per day sleeping

I am asking you to commit to pray for your church five minutes each day for the next three months as we continue the visioning process. You can pray for printed prayer needs each week in the worship bulletin, your Sunday School class and teachers, our ministries, and volunteers. You might want to take a copy of our church families and pray for several families each day. The important part is to set aside five minutes a day for the next three months to pray for our church. God delights in the prayers of his people and has promised to hear and answer as we call out to Him.

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

I look forward to this journey with you as we seek God’s direction for New Colony Baptist Church.

Servants Together,

Dr. Phil
