How Familiar Are You With Jesus?

Dr. Phil Wilkes, Mark 6:1-6

Jesus returns to his hometown of Nazareth. You would think people would be thrilled to have Jesus come home, especially after hearing about how He can heal people and cast demons out of people. But the people in Jesus hometown become critical and questioning of Jesus. The knew where Jesus came from, an unmarried pregnant teenager. His family was not from an important family line. Just common folk.

So his hometown people had drawn conclusion about Jesus and refused to change them when they heard Jesus for themselves. Their preconceived ideas about Jesus became a stumbling block to their putting faith in the Lord.

What the people missed is that Jesus was the Son of God. He could bring new life to his hometown people but they refused to believe Jesus. Their preconceived ideas kept them from putting faith in the Lord.
So how do you respond to Jesus in your life? Will you accept the distortions and false conclusion about Jesus that some have made? Maybe you have grown up learning information about Jesus. But having knowledge about Jesus is not the same as giving your life to Jesus. What will you do with what you know about him?

Open your heart to Jesus. Ask Jesus to forgive your sin and take control of your life. He will do more than you could ever have imagined or expected.
