Worthy of Worship
02/24/08
Dr. Phil Wilkes, John 4:20-24
In John 4 Jesus has a discussion with a woman about what appropriate worship of God looks like. Jesus tells the woman that true, authentic worship God comes from those who worship the Father in spirit and truth. The location and form of worship is not as important as what one does in worship. It is important for Christians to realize that in a corporate worship setting, the people leading in worship are not the focus, they are the prompters. The congregation is not the audience but are the actors and God is the audience and recipient of our worship. This message seeks to describe some of what it means to worship God in spirit and truth.

Amazing Grace
02/17/08
Dr. Phil Wilkes, Psalm 121
In Psalm 121 we have the author describing how God will be faithful to us when life becomes challenging and difficult. The Psalm describes for us God’s amazing grace. When life is uncertain, when the heat is on and when life seems darkest, you can count of God’s grace to work in your life to accomplish God’s purposes. We gain confidence for living each day as we read this Psalm and are reminded of God’s faithful grace at work in us every day.

Raising the White Flag

Stephanie Potter
When we think of surrender, we usually think of failure, defeat and a loss of our rights and freedom. However, when we look at what it means to surrender our lives to God, surrender takes on a whole new meaning. This message follows the journey of the apostle Peter as He discovers what it means to follow Jesus with his life. Peter is transformed from a man who says certain things about Jesus, but doesn't follow through on them, to a man who has completely surrendered his whole self to God and does the hard work of fulfilling that commitment to Christ.
What does it mean for us to give our entire selves to God?
How does raising the white flag to Jesus actually give us our true freedom?

Jesus Can Restore A Broken Life
02/03/08
Dr. Phil Wilkes, Mark 2:1-12
Human nature has the tendency to tear down rather than build up. Far too often people are much quicker to discourage someone rather than to encourage someone. Many people hear ten words of discouragement for every word of encouragement. Discouragement can come from a variety of sources. From the life of Barnabas we learn how to encourage others and the impact simple acts of encouragement can have in a person’s life. Through Jesus Christ, like Barnabas, you can be encouraged and become one who encourages others.
