Walking for Life

Dr. Phil Wilkes, Ephesians 5:1-21

We all know walking is good for your health. In this passage the Apostle Paul describes how we are to walk in terms of our relationship with Christ. Our world is in desperate need of knowing that God loves every person and through Christ offers a new life. As Christians Paul says we are to be imitators of God. We do that by walking in love. Just as Christ loves us unconditionally we are to share Christ’s love with others. We are to walk in light. Your life will be transformed by Jesus and will make an impact on other people. Finally Paul advocates that we walk in God’s wisdom. The only way others will see Christ is as we implement God’s wisdom. By doing God’s will we shine his light on those who don’t know Him. Walking not only provides health benefits it also can be a powerful way to share Christ.

Essentials For Living: The Priority of Love

Dr. Phil Wilkes, 1Corinthians 13:1-7

The Apostle Paul describes in this chapter the kind of love that God has for each of us. He highlights how Christians are to share this love experienced from God with other people. Loving others the same way God loves you is the greatest gift you can give to someone. Paul declares it doesn’t matter how much you know, how many great skills you have, or how many sacrifices you make if you do not love others the way Jesus loves you. He encourages us to share unconditional love with people around us. People around us are hurting, struggling and think they are only worth something if they are able to produce results. What a difference it makes when you begin to love others without expecting anything in return.
