Recipes for the Family: The Right Preservative

A by product of your relationship with Christ is you become a preservative in a world that is disoriented to the ways of God and is decaying. Preservatives help food to not spoil. Preservatives prevent decay. As you walk with Christ you become a preservative in the world. Jesus talked about how salt can add flavor to food but also salt preserves food.

So how do you make a difference in our world that is disoriented to God and is decaying? What can Christ do in you that makes you a preservative in your family, with your friends and in our society? Your faith in Christ lived out in relationships you have with others can make a difference. Paul encourages Timothy to set an example for others in his speech, life, loving others, faith in God and purity.

Recipes for the Family: Essential Ingredients

There are a lot of families that have shelves of recipe books and recipe holders filled with index cards holding recipes for various dishes and meals. You know from experience that these recipes work and produce some delicious food. But when you start substituting for ingredients you don’t have on hand, well the results can be less than what you desire. When it comes to how we relate to one another as husbands and wives, as parents and children, as extended families God has given us a recipe book filled with directions for creating some incredible families. Not perfect families. Not families where there is never conflict or pain. But a family where members know they are loved, affirmed, encouraged, allowed to try and fail, and can be themselves. This message looks at some essential ingredients that families can give mom and mom can give her family. When these ingredients are used the results can create some healthy families.

The Grace Files: Power Up

As Paul concludes his letter to the Epesians Christians he reminds they are in a spiritual battle with a real enemy, Satan. He is cunning and crafty yet he is a defeated enemy because of Jesus Christ. Paul urges Christians to take up the spiritual armor provided to them. Then he says Christians are to pray on all occasions with all kinds of prayers for all the saints. He tells them to stay alert and persevere in praying for themselves and each other. This message highlights the necessity of prayer in the life of a believer.
