Jesus was asked to define what the greatest commandment is. He told those asking “Love God with all your heart, soul and mind.” Then a lawyer stood up to question Jesus. He asked the Lord “who is my neighbor?” Jesus shares a parable about a Jewish man who was beat up and a Samaritan who stops to take care of him.
Who needs you to be their “neighbor”? We all live busy lives. Yet Jesus said that we are to provide tangible care for our “neighbors” We will look at what the Samaritan did and why it was a big deal. It required the Samaritan to make some sacrifices to aid this Jewish man. Jesus also tells us that when we do something simple, like giving a cup of cold water in his name to someone is like doing it for Jesus. Who is your neighbor?
